Jasper Reds 5 Sandlot Allstars 2
Reece Baueer gets the save in his final game on his high school baseball field as the Jasper Reds come from behind to defeat the Sandlot Allstars 5-2. The Reds are now 8-0 on the year and have not lost a regular season game since 2016.

Jasper Reds go to 7-0 defeat Owensboro Bombers 5-0
Carter Stamm went seven innings striking out nine allowing only four hits as the Reds defeated the Owensboro Bombers 5-0. Vinny Santarsiero pitched the final two innings. He made it to double A in the Dodgers organization on 2018. He struck out the side in the ninth. The Reds are now 7-0 and have not lost a regular season game since 2016

The Jasper Reds sweep Owensboro Hard Ball 10-0 and 7-2
Carter Stamm gives the Reds the lead in game two scoring Jacob Schuler. The Reds would win the game 7-2. They won the opener 10-0. The Reds are now 6-0 and host the Owensboro Bombers Wednesday at the Jasper Sports Complex.

Jasper Reds sweep Saline County Illinois 13-1 and 10-1
Carter Stamm closes out game one with a basehit, Kris Wesheit got the basehit as Jasper won game one 13-1 in five innings. Weston Allen was the game two winners as the Reds won 10-1. Jasper is now 4-0 on the year

Todays broadcast game cancelled
The Semi pro game between the Jasper Reds and Louisville Cubs scheduled at League Stadium has been cancelled because of rain. The reds return to action July 15 with a 6:00PM doubleheader vs Saline County Illinois.

Jasper Reds open season by sweeping Hoosier Town Ball Bill Alles wins 300th game
Chase Taylor knocks in two in the Jasper Reds 10-6 six inning win over Hoosier Town Ball. It was manager Bill Alles's 300th win for the Reds. Jasper won the knightcap 6-1. Bo Daves was the first game winner striking out seven allowing no hits in five innings. Carter Stamm won the second striking out seven walking one in four innings. The Reds play the Louisville Cubs Caturday at 1:00PM

Reds Open season this weekend,WITZ will broadcast
The Jasper Reds open their 2020 season with a three game set this Saturday and Sunday. The Reds will host Hoosier Town Ball out of Indianapolis for a doubleheader, pre game Saturday pregame 12:50PM 1:00PM first pitch. The Reds will play the Louisville Cubs 11:25AM pregame Sunday first pitch 11:30AM. The general public can not attend because of Covid 19. The games will be played at League Stadium and can be heard on WITZ-FM and witzamfm.com

Southridge Cross Country Coach resigned
Southridge High School Cross Country coach Steve Sturgeon has resigned because of business opportunities. He is in his second year as coach and was a former Southridge Cross Country record holder. He was also a long time Raider Asst. A search for a new coach will start immediately.

Former Bomber Drafted first round MLB draft
Former Dubois County Bomber Nick Gonzalez was drafted with the seventh overall pick by the Pittsburgh Pirates. Nick played his college baseball at New Mexico State.

Aces Williams heads to Memphis
DeAndre Williams took an extra week but has finally decided where he will play. The 6'9 standout announced a six pm CDT on Instagram he would play for Coach Penny Hardaway and Memphis in the American Athletic Conference. Williams will have two years of eligibility remaining, It is not guaranteed he will be allowed to play next season because of NCAA transfer rules. His final four choices were Arkansas, Baylor, Kentucky and Memphis.

Jasper Youth Baseball will play
Jasper Youth Baseball President Jason Stamm announced Jasper Youth Baseball will have a limited season and will incorporate strict sanitary and social distancing guidelines. Little League International stated the season could not start till June 14th. Games could be started July 6th. Jason Stamm will join us on the Sports this Tuesday to explain more. WITZ-FM will be broadcasting select Jasper Youth League games this summer.

Jaspers Ruxer Golf Course closes.
The Jasper Park Board has decided to close the Ruxer Golf Course. it was decommissioned at this weeks board meeting. Flooding has been a problem at the course virtually every year. The course did not open till July 12 last year because of flooding. The future of the course is now in the hands of the Jasper Common Council. the council will now look at the next steps to make the best use of the property

Anna Alstadt will run Track at Akron
Anna Alstadt Southridge Senior Track and Volleyball standout has executed a National Letter of Intent to run Track at the University of Akron in Akron Ohio. Alstadt had many Volleyball and Track achievements at Southridge. In Volleyball she played in the East West Allstar match, tied a single match record for blocks and was the MVP with most kills and blocks. In Track she was all conference and Sectional 400 meter champion and has the school redord in the 400 meters. At Akron she will pursue a degree in Supply Chain/Operations Management.
