Kris Norton joined the WITZ / WQKZ team in May, 2021 as the director of News and Information. Kris is an Indiana University graduate with a Sports Journalism degree. He’s excited to be back in the Hoosier state (raised in Carmel), though he was most recently in International Falls, MN.
Prior to living in the “Icebox of the Nation”, Kris produced The Jeff and Big Joe Morning Show on 1070 The Fan in Indianapolis.
An avid sports fan and broadcaster, Kris has called everything from State Title games at Lucas Oil Field to Semi-Pro Hockey in Ontario, Canada.

Charlie began his radio career at KCUB/KIIM in Tucson, AZ in 1986. His favorite hobbies include playing the drums, guitar and singing.

I started at WITZ in 1965 hosting the Coke Caravan Show. My current Sunday show is one of the longest continuing programs in Indiana radio today. I attended Indiana State Univ. where I majored in English, with a minor in Journalism and obtained my Bachelor’s Degree. I received my Master’s Degree from Indiana University. In 2008, I retired after serving 40 years as an English teacher at Southridge. Along with my teacher duties, I am the Boys and Girls tennis coach at Southridge. I am married to the former Carol Songer. We have two sons: Kelly and John, and two grandchildren: Emily and Paul.
I started working at WITZ on January 3, 1977 as a night time announcer. I eventually became Program Director then Sales and Operations Manager. In September of 2011 I became General Manager.
I am a Board Member of the Indiana Broadcasters Association since 2014.
I am a Certified Radio Marketing Consultant with (RAB) the Radio Advertising Bureau since 1983. I earned my Radio marketing Master certification from (RAB) the Radio Advertising Bureau in 1995. I became a Certified Digital marketing consultant with (RAB) the Radio Advertising Bureau in February 2008.
I was a member of the Country Radio Broadcaster’s Agenda Committee for the Country Radio Seminar from 2009-2011.
In 1997 I received recognition from the Radio Advertising Bureau for a Radio Gets Results campaign for Grandy’s Restaurants.
In 1993, 1995 and 2012 I received an (IBA) Indiana Broadcasters Association Spectrum Award for Small Market Radio for Best Radio Commercial or Series of Commercials. In 2016 WITZ FM received an (IBA) Spectrum Award for Small Market Station of the Year.
Since 2005 I have been a Board Member of the Dubois County Sportsmen’s Club.
In 1987 and 1988 I was a member of the Board of Directors of the Jasper Chamber of Commerce. In 1989 I was elected President of the Board of Directors of the Jasper Chamber of Commerce for 1990.
I was a member of the Jasper Strassenfest Committee and Advertising Chairman from 1990-2006 and served as Chairman of the Jasper Strassenfest from 2002-2003. I now serve on their Board of Directors.
I have been a member of the Lincoln Heritage District of Boy Scouts of America “Distinguished Citizen’s Awards Banquet Committee” since 1992 and served as Chairman of the event from 2000-2002.
Since 1984 I have been a life member of Optimist International and have served as a member of the Board of Directors and Vice President of the Jasper Optimist club. I was also selected as Optimist of the Month three times.
In 1983 I was named Billboard Magazine’s “Program Director of the Year” for radio markets under 100,000 population.
In 1984 I was chosen one of the “Best Ears in the Business” in the Active Industry Research Contest sponsored by Radio & Records Magazine. 250 of the nation’s top contemporary radio Program Directors and Music Directors competed.
Also in 1984 I was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the Jasper Jay Cee’s for outstanding community service.
In 1985 I was selected as an Outstanding young man of America in recognition of outstanding professional achievement, superior leadership ability and exceptional service to the community.
I am an avid hunter and outdoorsman. I enjoy racketball, pickle ball, softball and bicycle riding.
I have been married to my wife Phyllis since 1978 and we love spending time with our two grandsons and traveling.
Roger is a graduate of Vincennes University with a degree in broadcasting and a degree from Oakland City College (University) in Secondary Education-English. He was in education for 34 years after spending 13 years in broadcasting at WRAY in Princeton. Roger got back in broadcasting in March, 2014 at WITZ/WQKZ and has been the “Voice of the Forest Park Rangers” ever since doing boys/girls basketball, football, and baseball. You can also hear Roger on select basketball, baseball and softball for the Jasper Wildcats and Dubois County Bombers Baseball. Roger retired from his on-air shift in October, 2017 and now focuses on sports play by play on WITZ & WQKZ.

Justin joined WITZ at the end of October 2017, bringing with him over 20 years of experience in broadcasting, and a degree in broadcasting from Indiana University Kokomo. When not in the studio, Justin lends a helping hand to organizations such as Relay for Life and Children's Miracle Network. Justin has also served the last two years as the On-Court Emcee for the Indiana/Kentucky Boys and Girls All Star Games at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. When he's not on the air, you can find him online discussing, and playing, the latest in games whether they are video, card, or board games. You'll also find him during football season putting together unstoppable Fantasy Football teams!! A sci-fi nerd at heart, Justin's "Man Cave" is more of a museum dedicated to Star Wars, Star Trek (complete with his diploma from Starfleet Academy), and Doctor Who. Join Justin weekdays from 9am-2pm, Saturday from Noon-6pm, and Sunday mornings for the Sunday Morning Musicale.

Walt Ferber is a 1974 graduate of New Albany Highcwith a double major in Telecommunications and Marketing. Walt has been in radio since 1972 at WNAS in New Albany and in 1973 became the youngest Sports Director in the state at WREY in New Albany. Ferber spent 1974 to 1979 at WTTS and WGTC in Bloomington where he was an Air Personality, Sportscaster and did Sports Play by Play. He also did TV Play by Play for the statewide company Added Attractions. In 1979 he went to WWWY in Columbus, Indiana as Afternoon Personality and Sports Play by Play man calling the State Championship Football game with Columbus East In 1980 Walt came to WITZ and is currently Program and Sports Director for WITZ AM/FM Air Personality and Account Executive. He has won numerous awards including the Marv Bates Indiana Sportscaster of the year in 1996 from the Indiana Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association, the Distinguished Service Award from the Indiana Interscholastic Athletic Association in 1997, the Virgil Sweet Distinguished Service Award from the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association in 2005, Associated Press Play by Play Awards in 1995,96,97, Network Indiana Play by Play Awards in 2007 and 2008 and the Network Indiana Sportscast of the year in 2008. Ferber was presented the IHSAA Distinguished Service Media Award in 2011. He was inducted into the Indiana Sportswriters and Sportscasters Association Hall of Fame in 2010 and the New Albany High School Hall of Fame in 2011. Ferber is a past board member and President of the Jasper Chamber of Commerce and was a charter member of the Redevelop Old Jasper Action Coalition and has also been a lay minister. Walt has been married to the former Melanie Padgett since 1980 and has two sons Nathan, who lives in Huntingburg with two children Keyan and Austin; and Jonathon who lives in Indianapolis
Melanie has been working at WITZ part time since 2009 and full time since early 2014.
You can hear Melanie Saturday mornings at 9:20am broadcasting from events all over the County as part of Springs Valley Bank & Trust’s Community Feature remote series. Melanie is also Program Director of 98.5FM WQKZ, a back-up on air personality for WITZ, is the station's resident "tech guru", and is an Account Executive for WITZ and WQKZ.
Melanie graduated from the University of Southern Indiana with a Degree in Broadcast Journalism and Marketing. Melanie was very active in USI's radio station, AM820, and newspaper "The Shield".
Melanie is married to Andrew (Andy) Arehart. They have two children, Jackson & Ella. She is a huge lifelong St. Louis Cardinals Fan. Melanie enjoys running, sports, classic movies and spending time with her family.
