Patoka Sportsman 4-7 & 4-8-18There will be a 3-D Broken Arrow Archery shoot Sunday April 8th at Beaver Lake. This will be the 3rd shoot for the year. Sign-in will be from sunrise till noon. A practice range will be available, and concessions will also be sold. The entry fee is $10 for members and $12 for non-members, $8 for children age 11-17, and free for the cub class (10 and younger) and active military members. Participants should use the main entrance to Patoka Lake off State Road 164. Registration on Sunday starts at Daylight till 12:00pm. Shooting fees are $8.00 for Active PLB members, $10.00 for Nonmembers and $5.00 for Youth (age 11-17) while Cubs (10 & younger) and Active Military shoot for free. For more information, call 812 205-0081.Indiana has four free fishing days April 21, May 19 and June 2-3.  Indiana residents do not need a fishing license or a trout/salmon stamp to fish the state's public waters on Free Fishing Days. On all other days, only youth (age 17 and younger) and a few other special anglers are exempt from the license requirement.Join in a women’s only event to learn outdoor skills in a relaxed environment on Friday, April 27 through Sunday April 29.  This event will start at the Patoka Lake Nature Center and include overnight camping for the duration of the weekend.  Women ages 16 and older can participate in activities including in depth archery lessons, kayaking, Dutch oven cooking, survival, wild edibles and medicine, wilderness 1st aid, basic fishing and fly fishing, firearms safety, trap shooting, rifle, outdoors and camping basics, boat operations, self-defense, wildlife tracking, beginner birding and more.  Meals will be provided on Saturday and Sunday. When ospreys return to Patoka Lake this spring, they will find new nesting platforms, courtesy of Dubois County Rural Electric Cooperative (Dubois REC). The REC donated four platforms and volunteered the labor to install them. These 30-foot platforms will serve as a safe place for osprey to nest, away from live power lines.Red Fox Track-n-Trail will host the 3rd round of the National Enduro Series at Interlake SRA on April 15. The event will attract dirt bikers, including 40 professional riders, from across the country! Please note this large scale event will cause Interlake to be closed to public riding during the races on April 15, but the trails will be back open on April 16. Indiana's youth turkey season is coming up April 21 & 22.  The regular turkey hunting season begins on April 25 for the rest of us.The Builder’s Association of Dubois County is hosting their Sporting Clays Classic at Cool  Springs in Velpen on Friday, June 15.  Registaton starts at 8:30 and the shoot starts at 9:30.  Cos is $100 per shooter with 4 shooters per team.  There will be 12 stations and 100 sporting clay targets.  All ammo and clays are included in the cost.  Each shooter is required to bring either a 12 or 20 gauge shotgun, eye protection and ear protection.  All shooters must be 18 years of age.  No alcohol is allowed before or during the shoot.  Hamburgers and hot dogs will be provided after the shoot.  Space will be limited to the first 26 paid teams.  Registration forms must be received by June 1.  Make checks payable to Builders Ass.
