Zetta Marie Lengacher, 94, of Loogootee
Zetta Marie Lengacher, 94, of Loogootee, Indiana went to her heavenly home on
Monday, September 14, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on April 18, 1932 in Minot, North Dakota to John Henry and Minnie
(Atkins) Stoll.
Zetta was born and raised in North Dakota. At the age of 17, she moved to Indiana for
work.
Throughout her life, she worked a variety of jobs, but her greatest role was that of
homemaker and mother. Raising her children and caring for her family were central to
her life. Zetta married George Graber, and they shared 49 years together before his
passing in 1989. In 2000, she married Joe Lengacher, and they enjoyed 25 years of
marriage together, before he passed in 2026.
Faith was an important part of Zetta’s life. She was a longtime member of Providence
Mennonite Church, where she served as chorus leader. She also loved to sing and was
a member of a quartet. Her faith was reflected in the many relationships and activities
that were meaningful to her.
Zetta was a social person who enjoyed the company of family and friends, camping and
sharing special times. She and George also enjoyed making wood crafts together,
sharing the satisfaction of creating something with their own hands.
She had a special gift for making celebrations memorable. Zetta loved to bake cakes,
and many of her grandchildren remember the beautiful wedding and birthday cakes she
made for them. But even more than the cakes, they will remember the time she spent
with them. She treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and made family
time a priority.
Zetta will be remembered for her strong faith, her love of family, her warmth and social
nature, and the many simple ways she cared for the people around her. Family was at
the heart of her life, and the love she gave them will continue through the generations.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; two sons: Jerry J. Graber
and Marvin Graber and 7 siblings.
Zetta will be lovingly remembered by her children:
Delmar (Betty Jean) Graber, Terry Joe (Gwen) Graber, Nelda (Dean) Lengacher, Jolene
(Van) McAtee, Sheldon (Jenny) Graber, one sister, Ruby Miller; 14 grandchildren and 19
great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. at
Providence Mennonite Church in Montgomery, Indiana, with burial to follow in the
church cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at
Providence Mennonite Church and again the day of service on Saturday, from 9:00 -
9:45 A.M.
