William J. “Bill” Giesler, age 84, of Jasper
William J. “Bill” Giesler, age 84, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away surrounded by family at 5:09 a.m. on March 21, 2026, at Scenic Hills at the Monastery in Ferdinand, Indiana.
Bill was born in Jasper, Indiana, on January 7, 1942, to Silas and Marie (Englehart) Giesler. He married Joan M. McDermott on November 26, 1966, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana. She preceded him in death on March 24, 2015.
He was a local member of the woodworking industry, an original investor of EFI, and an Executive and Member of the Board of Directors of EFI for many years.He served in the Indiana National Guard and was a member of the American Legion Post #147. He was also a member of the K of C Council #1584 and Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper.
He favorite pastime was fishing, and he also enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons, Jay (Dawn) Giesler, Huntingburg, IN, and Chad (Kathy) Giesler, Jasper, IN, five grandchildren, Connor, Dillon, Dakota, Madison, and Jaylyn, four great grandchildren, and one great grandchild on the way, three brothers, Donald (Virlee) Giesler, Jasper, IN, Terry (Julie) Giesler, Jasper, IN, and Larry (Robin) Giesler, Spencer, IN, two sisters, Betty (Jim) Wildman, Jasper, IN, and Sue Friedman, Jasper, IN, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death besides his wife are eight sisters, Margie Block, Linda Giesler, Bernice Mathies, Ruth Elliot, Viola Brickey, Shirley Mehringer, Virginia Turk, and an infant, Mary Jane Giesler, and three brothers, Charles, Robert, and Edward Giesler.

A Mass of Christian Burial for William J. “Bill” Giesler will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with entombment to follow in the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper.A visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana, and one hour before services at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the 10:00 a.m. Mass time on Tuesday.Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Scenic Hills at the Monastery, or to the Jasper K of C.
