Verna Wollenmann age 85 of Ferdinand

Verna Wollenmann age 85 of Ferdinand, Indiana passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 8:45 a.m. at Scenic Hills at the Monastery.  Verna was born on September 13, 1934 to parents Werner A. and Irene A. (Lindauer)  Wollenmann and spent her entire life in Ferdinand where she was born and raised.

Verna attended grade school at Ferdinand Elementary School and attended High School at the Academy of the Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand.  She received her nursing credentials at St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Verna started her nursing career at Stork Memorial Hospital in Huntingburg then went on to work as a nurse for Dr. JP Salb in Jasper.  She retired from her career working as a home health care nurse in Jasper.

Verna was a Member of Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church and its’ St. Ann’s Sodality. She was a Eucharistic Minister, Sacristan, a Choir Member, Lector as well as a Religion Educator. 

Verna is survived by her sister, Carolyn (Virgil) Tieken of Ferdinand, her sister, Gloria (Wollenmann) Shreve of Santa Claus, her brother Paul (Joelle) Wollenmann of Evansville, her sister-in-laws Betty (Borho) Wollenmann of Ferdinand, Marilyn (Abel) Wollenmann of Naperville, IL, and Martha (Vehr) Wollenmann of Holland.  She is also survived by 37 nieces and nephews.

Ferdinand and siblings, Maxwell and Helen (Borders) Wollenmann, Leander Wollenmann, Aloysious and Mary Ann (Borho) Wollenman, Mary Margaret (Wollenmann) and Sy Hurst, John and Ann (Braunecker) Wollenmann, Charles Wollenmann, Matthew Wollenmann and Brother-In-Law Christopher Shreve.

Friends may call on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. EST and on Thursday, January 23, 2020 from 7:00 to 10:30 a.m. EST at Becher Funeral Home, A mass of Christian burial will be held on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at St. Ferdinand Church at 11:00 a.m. EST. 

In Lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Ann’s Sodality of St. Ferdinand Church.
