Tony R. Smock, age 59, of Dubois

Tony was born in Salem, Indiana, on August 21, 1967, to Benjamin and Joyce (Lashbrook) Smock.  He married Lorrie Allen on November 18, 1989.

He was a 1986 graduate of Springs Valley High School, where he had fond memories of playing baseball and was on the golf team.

He was the Head of Maintenance for Northeast Dubois School Corporation, where the highlight of his job was the relationships made with the staff and the students.  These relationships meant the world to them, spanning for more than 20 years.  

He previously owned the Nicholson Valley Store, which was notoriously known as “Tony’s”.  Prior to that, he was an owner of Tony’s Marine and recently started the Nicholson Valley Gun and Knife Store.

Tony was a member of Nicholson Valley Christian Church, where he was an elder. In addition, he was a member of the Southwest Indiana Walk to Emmaus Community.

Tony was a devoted husband, father, papaw, son, brother, uncle, nephew, friend, coach, bus driver, and mentor.  Everyone he knew loved to be around his joyful demeanor.He loved being a witness of his faith to others.  He enjoyed hunting, walking, fishing, golfing, singing, gardening, sports, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving is his wife, Lorrie Smock, Dubois, IN, his mother, Judy Smock, French Lick, IN, four children, Kirsten (Keenan) Prechtel, Celestine, IN, Erin (Reid) Olinger, Three Forks, MT, Andrea (Tyler) Metcalf, West Baden, IN, and Ethan Smock, Paoli, IN, and seven grandchildren, Von, Jett, Dean, and Claude Prechtel, Aiden Ellis, Evelyn and Annalise Metcalf.  In addition, he is survived by six siblings, Scott (Stephanie) Smock, Karen (Jerry) Marks, Bill (Patti) Tinkle, Karla (Tim) Newton, Bob (Angela) Tinkle, and Lori (Chuck) Burton, and several nieces and nephews, and in-laws.

Preceding him in death is his father and mother.
