Sandra “Sandy” Lynn Sherwood, 70, of Winslow
Sandra “Sandy” Lynn Sherwood, 70, of Winslow, Indiana, passed away on Thursday,
April 9, 2026 in Mitchell, Indiana with her family by her side.
Born on September 14, 1955 in Washington, Indiana, she was the daughter of Elmer
and Lena Bauer.
Sandy was a devoted and hardworking woman who spent much of her life in factory
work, including at RCA in Bloomington, Jasper Rubber, and K-Mart in Jasper. She was
a former member of St. John Lutheran Church in Loogootee, where her faith was an
important part of her life. In her quiet moments, Sandy found joy in reading, watching
television, and working puzzles. She was also a talented singer, with a deep love for
music that truly spoke to her heart. Above all else, Sandy’s greatest passion was her
family—she cherished every moment spent with them, creating memories that will be
treasured forever.
Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; her adoptive parents: Ester and Lester
Burress; her son, Cody Paul Sherwood; her sister, Suzanne Bauer, and long-time
companion, Mike Tepe.
She will be lovingly remembered by her surviving sons: Jay (Katie) Bateman and Kyle
Sherwood; grandchildren: Ryan and Trenton Bateman; and brother Donovan (Christine)
Bauer.
A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Blake
Funeral Home in Loogootee, Indiana, with Ed Frost to officiate. Friends may visit from
12:00 PM until the time of service. Burial will follow in Goodwill Cemetery in Loogootee.
