Ruth Pauline (Allen) Tuttle

Ruth Pauline (Allen) Tuttle, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, at her residence in Shoals, Indiana. 

Born on February 9, 1928, in Martin County, Indiana, she was the daughter of Everett and Jessie (McKibben) Allen. Pauline lived a life marked by dedication to her family, community, and her passions. 

Pauline retired from the French Lick Hotel after 12 years of dedicated service. Her career was characterized by compassionate care in nursing homes and as a private caregiver, and she also contributed her talents while employed at Essex in Orleans. Her commitment to others was a testament to her kind and giving nature. 

An active member of the West Shoals Church of Christ, Pauline enriched her community further through her past involvement with the Shoals Senior Citizens. She was also a former member of the Hindostan Homemakers Club, reflecting her devotion to both service and fellowship. 

In her personal life, Pauline was an avid quilter who delighted in piecing and embroidering quilts with care and creativity. She also nurtured a beautiful collection of African Violets, a reflection of her gentle and nurturing spirit. 

Pauline is lovingly survived by her three daughters, Shirley D. (Larry) Stroud, Jean A. Melvin, and Joan B. (Lanny) Banks; two sons, Allen C. Tuttle and David (Julie) Tuttle; and one sister, Martha Kidwell. She is also remembered by her numerous nieces and nephews. Her legacy continues through 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and six step-great-grandchildren who carry forward the values she instilled. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Dwight and Cary Tuttle; brothers, Calvin Allen and William Lee Allen; half-sisters, Ethel Tow, Patty Catt, and Phyllis Kidwell; half-brother, Ernest Allen; step-sisters, Wilma Reinhart, Virginia Lyster, and Mildred Lovell; and step-brother, Lyle Wininger. 

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m., also at the Queen-Lee Chapel of George Funeral Care, at 431 High Street in Shoals, with Stan Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Hindostan Church Cemetery. 

Visitation to honor Pauline’s memory will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the service hour at 11:00 a.m., also at the Queen-Lee Chapel. Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.queenlee.com.
