Rudy H. Krodel, age 79, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away surrounded by family at 12:07 a.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
Rudy was born in Jasper, Indiana, on April 25, 1946, to Edgar and Velma (Kieffner) Krodel. He married Barbara Hedinger on October 13, 1972, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Ferdinand, Indiana.
He was a 1964 graduate of Dubois High School. He then graduated with an Associate’s Degree from Lockyear Business College.He was a member of the Army National Guard.
He worked in sales for various businesses throughout his life.He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, American Legion Post #147, the Jasper Moose, Jasper Outdoor Recreation, Jasper K of C, the Eagles of Huntingburg, and the Germania German Club in Evansville.
Rudy enjoyed boating, skiing, going on Florida vacations with family, and was a Mustang enthusiast. He was a family man, who especially loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Rudy never knew a stranger and enjoyed sharing a Schooner and conversation with friends.
Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Barbara Krodel, Jasper, IN, two daughters, Molly (Jim) Hicks, Valparaiso, IN, Leslie (Adam) Goth, Newburgh, IN, six grandchildren, Lucy and Isla Hicks and Maya, William, Lily, and Harper Goth.
Preceding him in death is a daughter, Kelly Krodel, a granddaughter, Anna Goth, an infant sister, Judith Ann Krodel, and two brothers, Tom and John Krodel.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Rudy Krodel will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military graveside rites.
A visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.Memorial contributions may be made to the Kelly M. Krodel Special Education Endowment at the Community Foundation or to a favorite charity.
