Rowena Waninger, 91, of Troy

Rowena Waninger, 91, of Troy, passed away Monday April 20, 2026.

Rowena was born January 5, 1935, in Perry County to Carl and Lorene (Hagedorn) Harpenau. She was united in marriage to William Waninger on September 19, 1956, in Saint John’s Catholic Church in New Boston.

Rowena loved to cook and bake. She often baked peanut brittle for St. Meinrad Archabbey. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and being with her grandkids. Rowena was a member of St. Meinrad Parish.

Surviving is sons Stanley Waninger of Troy, Daniel (Kimberly) Waninger of Mariah Hill, and David (Melissa) Waninger of Troy; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years William Waninger; her parents; brother, Tony Harpenau; sisters Margret Davis, Bert Meunier; daughter-in-law Raven Waninger.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM CDT on Thursday April 23, 2026, in Saint Meinrad Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday from 8:00 until 10:00 AM CDT at the church. Online condolences may be shared at www.becherfuneralhome.com
