Ronnie Lechner, age 83, of Montgomery

He was born at home in Loogootee, Indiana on July 12, 1942 to Bernadetta (Walker) Lechner & later adopted by James Lechner who raised him. Ronnie married Rose “Imogene” (Showalter) on January 12, 1963. 

Ronnie graduated from Montgomery High School in 1960. He joined the Indiana National Guard at the age of 17 and served for 20 years. He was a truck driver for Joe Traylor trucking, Coke-Cola, and Roscoe Showalter trucking in his younger years. Ron went on to work for over 42 years at Hoover Superior Steel Ball Factory in Washington. He then went on the become a security guard at Hoosier Energy in Petersburg.

 

Ron was a faithful member of the St. Peter Catholic Church in Montgomery, Indiana. He was very active in church and helped start Christ Renews His Parish. Ron was recently awarded the Simon Brute Award from the Catholic Diocese of Evansville along with his wife, Imogene. He liked woodcrafts, bowling, and dancing. He helped coach little league and bowling teams. He really loved to spend time with his family and tease his grandchildren and will be deeply missed. 

Ron is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Jim Lechner, Biological father, Willam (Bill) Craney, sisters, Donetta Sorrells, Diane Bauer & brother William (Billy) Craney. 

He is survived by his wife, Imogene Lechner, their children, Brian (Ramona) Lechner of Washington, Jeffrey Lechner of Montgomery, Troy (Amanda) Lechner of Montgomery, Darrell (Wendy) Lechner, grandchildren, Erica (Derek) Myers, Brittney Lechner, Misty (Paul) Mack, Tena (Rich) Bird, Roy ( Valarie) Bannister, Gage (Niki) Lechner, Harper Lechner, Nicole Mack, Tristan (Alan) Kaiser, Dustin Wright, several great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren, his brother, Charles (Pat) Lechner, sister, Sharon Brassine. Ronnie also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, close friends, Louise Hunter & Betty Mae Hass & children, Dana & Bill Harding, Glenda Baker & family, Scott, Jamie & Brandie. 
 

Cremation was chosen according to Ron’s wishes. He will be laid to rest of St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Montgomery, Indiana, at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to your local humane society in memory on Ronald. Go high on that mountain, Ronnie, your work on Earth is done! You will be very missed so until we meet again.
