Ronald E. Mroz, age 69, of Celestine

Ronald E. Mroz, age 69, of Celestine, Indiana, passed away at home surrounded by family on Thursday, June 25, 2026.

He was born in Hammond, Indiana, on August 27, 1956, to Andrew Jr. and Alice (Sasewich) Mroz. He married Gerri Harvey on November 24, 1978, at the First United Methodist Church in East Chicago.

He was a 1975 graduate of George Rodgers Clark High School.He retired in 2015 as head operator of 5 Boiler House for Inland Steel, where he had worked for 40 years as a Local 1010 member.

Ron enjoyed fishing, taking long cruises with his wife on his Harley and in his Corvette, taking their dog Pebbles for long walks, bowling with his wife in leagues, water-skiing, boating and being on the lake, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

In addition, he was a handyman and always stayed busy with various projects.

Surviving is his wife of 47 years, Gerri Mroz, Celestine, IN, two children, Joe (Nikki) Mroz, Celestine, IN, Jim (Melanie) Mroz, Munster, IN, three grandchildren, Cheyenne, Lukis, and Brycen, four brothers, Tom (Dorothy) Mroz, Chico, CA, Rich (Lynette) Mroz, Lacrosse, IN, Len (Peg) Mroz, Bloomington, IL, and Larry (Shari) Mroz, Dyer, IN, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death are his parents and one brother, David Mroz.

A Celebration of Life Service for Ronald E. Mroz will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana.

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the 2:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
