Robert E. “Bob” Heilman, age 84, of Santa Claus
Robert E. “Bob” Heilman, age 84, of Santa Claus, passed away at 2:00 p.m., on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Willowdale Village in Dale.
Bob was born on January 26, 1942, in Dale, Indiana, to Galen and Matilda (Leistner) Heilman. On December 21, 1963, he was united in marriage to Judy Kamman at Zoar United Methodist Church. Throughout his life, he was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to providing for his family. He worked in a variety of roles over the years, including managing several Tractor Supply Company stores, serving customers through sales and delivery at Ken Shourds Equipment, working as a truck jockey at OFS, and later driving and delivering for Leibering & Sons, where he was affectionately known as "Cigar Bob". Bob was a faithful member of the United Methodist Church and proudly served the local Republican party as a precinct committeeman for many years, receiving a Lifetime GOP Service Award in recognition of his dedication. He enjoyed farming, spending time at Rural King, and old country music (especially Dolly Parton). Above all, Bob cherished his family and treasured every opportunity to spend time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two siblings, Barbara Grose and Michael Heilman; and one granddaughter, Danielle Reinke.
Bob is survived by his wife, Judy Heilman of Santa Claus; two daughters, Kim (Donnie) Mohr of Ferdinand and Kathy (Dan) Reinke of Dale; five grandchildren, Alex (Lucas) Kerstiens, Claire (Jhazz) Bieker, Blake Mohr, Cole Mohr and Case Reinke; and by three great-grandchildren, Colt, Gus and Bridger Kerstiens.
Funeral services for Robert E. “Bob” Heilman will be held at 11:00 a.m., C.D.T., Friday, June 12, 2026, at Rainey Funeral Home in Dale. Burial will follow at Santa Claus Cemetery. Pastors Cory Gieselman and Jill Kaetzel will officiate.
Visitation will be held from 3:00-8:00 p.m., C.D.T. on Thursday, June 11th at the funeral home; and also from 10:00-11:00 a.m., C.D.T., on Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Noel United Methodist Church Building Fund, the Santa Claus Historic Campground, or family wishes.
