Robert Allen Turner, 77, of Loogootee
Robert Allen Turner, 77, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday,
October 2, 2025 at Brown County Health and Living in Nashville, Indiana.
Born on February 19, 1948, he was the beloved son of Reginald and Mildred (Savage)
Turner. Robert married Regina Showalters on April 20, 1985, and she preceded him in
death.
Robert was an Army veteran, having bravely and proudly served his country in Vietnam.
He was a member of the Loogootee American Legion Post 120, the VFW, and the
Disabled Veterans of America Association. An avid car fanatic, Robert started working
on automobiles as a youth. That passion continued throughout his life to include drag
racing. After college, Robert worked for the US government for 46 ½ years as a heavy
equipment mechanic at Navel Ordinance and NSWC Crane. He also enjoyed model
cars.
Spending time with his grandchildren and gardening brought joy to his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Regina, and one nephew,
Reginald Hornback.
Robert is lovingly remembered by two children: Molly (Benjamin) Turner-King and
Robert “Robbie” Turner; 2 stepsons; grandchildren: Connor and Riley King, as well as 6
step-grandchildren; two brothers: George (Debbie) and Ricky Turner; one sister, Gerrie
(Rogers) Cheatham; and life-long dear friends, Mike & Shirley Bright.
A memorial service will be held, Thursday, October 9, 2025 at 1 P.M. at Blake Funeral
Home, Loogootee, Indiana with Mr. Phil Todd to officiate.
Visitation will begin at 11 A.M. until the time of service at the Blake Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to American Legion Post 120 or
VFW Post 9395, both of Loogootee, IN.
