Richard P. Weyer, 77
Richard P. Weyer, 77, a life-long resident of Jasper, passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 20, 2026.
He was born on August 5, 1948, the son of the late Gilbert H. and Lucille A. (Fleck) Weyer. He married his high school sweetheart, Karen S. Schroeder, on March 21, 1970, at Precious Blood Catholic Church.
Following graduation from Jasper High School, Rich attended Sams Technical Institute and completed his training in Electronics Technology. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1968. He proudly and honorably served his country in the Vietnam War. Upon his discharge from the military, he began his career with Dubois Rural Electric Cooperative.
There he started as a lineman and retired as a manager of metering services after 39 years. Rich also owned and operated Weyer Chimney Cleaning, wearing his signature top hat when making his service calls. While working two jobs and raising his family, he found the time to complete his college degree in Marketing.
Rich had a larger-than-life personality. He would strike up conversations with a stranger and leave with a new friend. He loved spending time at his happy place on the family farm in Ferdinand, tending to his gardens, growing his signature blueberries, where he and his sons built their cabin and hosted their infamous annual deer camps. He was a great cook, always looking for new recipes, and never shy about eating cake for breakfast. He and Karen were able to spend their retirement traveling the United States and golfing as much as the weather would allow.
Rich was an active member of Precious Blood Catholic Church, German Club, Knights of Columbus, VFW, and the American Legion.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Weyer; three children, Stacey (Daniel) Willams; Shaun (Jamie) Weyer, Ryan (Alli) Weyer; 12 grandchildren, Aliya, Josh, Reece, Drew, Landon, Olivia, Shane, Linley, Henry, Sam, Tyler, and Morgan; two brothers, Jim (Pat) Weyer and John (Jan) Weyer; and a large extended family.
He was preceded in passing by a brother, Thomas Weyer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 24, 2026, at Precious Blood Catholic Church, 1385 West 6th Street. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Becher & Kluesner Funeral Home – Downtown, 214 East 7th Street.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Precious Blood Catholic Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
