Omer Lee "Omie" Nicholson, 81, Paoli

Omer Lee "Omie" Nicholson, 81, Paoli, passed away August 11 at 1019 Belle's Place of Bedford. 

Born May 5, 1945, in Paoli, he was the son of parents, Ollie and Marie (Hosea) Nicholson. He married Reita Murphy on April 9, 1965.  

He was a 1964 graduate of Paoli High School. He worked at Carpenter Body Works in Mitchell for 30 years in various positions before becoming the delivery driver for Bender Lumber in Paoli. He retired from Paoli Community Schools as a groundskeeper and special needs bus driver. 

Survivors include two daughters, Linda Thomas and Stephanie (Steve) Jones, both of Paoli; five grandchildren, Elizabeth (Adam) Lowe, Stevie (Remington) Allen, Andy (Chelsey) Thomas, Travis Mefford, Nicholson (Niki) Mefford; five great-grandchildren, Easton and Brooklyn Lowe, Hunter and Hattie Allen, Lincoln Thomas with baby brother on the way; nieces and nephews; and beloved pets, Tripper and Twirp. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Lonnie King; sisters Daisy May (Robert) Chaney and Mary Faith (Glenn) Ehle; step-siblings Margie (Elvin) Zehr and Maurice (Evelyn) King.  

Visitation will be Monday, August 17, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Dillman-Scott Funeral Home. (226 W. Campbell St. Paoli, IN 47454) Interment to follow at the Paoli Community Cemetery.
