Nancy A. Larkin, age 92, of Jasper

Nancy A. Larkin, age 92, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away surrounded by family at 10:10 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2026, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper, Indiana.

Nancy was born in French Lick, Indiana, on August 9, 1934, to Dow and Agnes (Lorey) Apple.  She was the first baby baptized by the Jesuit Priest of the Society of Jesus in West Baden, Indiana.  She married Raymond A. “Ray” Larkin on September 3, 1962, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana.  He preceded her in death on December 18, 2020.

She was a graduate of the Sisters of St. Benedict School in Ferdinand, Indian, attending on a music scholarship and a 1955 graduate of St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing and Evansville, Indiana. She was an Emergency Room Nurse and Hospital Supervisor for over 40 years Memorial Hospital in Jasper and was also a nurse at Jasper Middle School and Jasper Pediatrics.

Nancy was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, where she volunteered helping with Bible School, the church picnic, and Backpack Buddies; in addition, she delivered Thanksgiving meals with her husband, Ray.  She was a member of the St. Anne’s Society and the Daughters of Isabella.

She was involved with many organizations within the community including the Tri-Kappa Sorority, Indiana State Nurses Association, Indiana Emergency Room Nurses, Dubois County Nurses Association German Club, Dubois County Museum, Friends of the Arts, ROJAC, St. Mary’s Alunni Association, and the Association of the Little Company of Mary.  Nancy also gave of her time at Anderson Woods and Girl Scout Camps.

Notre Dame was an important and enjoyable part of Nancy’s life with her husband.  They spent many happy weekends tailgating with friends at the games.  She and Ray were also avid Jasper sports fans, attending many events.

Surviving are nieces and nephews

Preceding her in death besides her husband, is one brother, Gerald “Jerry” Apple.

The family of Nancy A. Larkin would extend their thanks to Heart-to-Heart Hospice and St. Charles Health Campus for their loving and compassionate care of Nancy.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Nancy Larkin will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. Mass time at the church on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Sisters of St. Benedict, the Dubois County Museum, or to a favorite charity.
