Mildred M. “Mick” Gramelspacher, age 102, of Jasper

Mildred M. “Mick” Gramelspacher, age 102, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 4:49 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper, Indiana. 

Mick was born in Huntingburg, Indiana on August 6, 1924, to Jacob and Mathilda “Tillie” (Horney) Brown.  She married James R. “Jim” Gramelspacher on September 5, 1942, at Our Lady of Sorrows Chapel in Ferdinand. 

Mick and Jim enjoyed 74 years together and started, owned and operated Jim’s Plumbing and Heating Company in Jasper where she worked as Bookkeeper for 43 years. He preceded her in death on September 21, 2016. 

Mick was an avid card player well into her 90s. She enjoyed crocheting and the company of family and friends. She served as member of the St. Anne’s Society and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church where she volunteered for years participating in the prayer chain. 

She is survived by, two daughters; Kay (Lanny) Reger, Islamorada, FL; and Judy (Allen) Leinenbach, Niles, MI; one son, Jerry (Gail) Gramelspacher, Jasper, IN; nine grandchildren, and 25 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren with one on the way. 

Besides her husband, she is preceded in death by one brother, Albert Brown and sister, Katherine who died in infancy. 

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mildred M. “Mick” Gramelspacher will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Jasper, with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper. 

A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at the church on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, Heart-to-Heart Hospice, or a favorite charity. 

A special thanks to the staff and volunteers at St. Charles Health Campus, Becher-Kluesner Funeral Home for their services, Father Christian for visiting Mick, and also the staff of Heart-to-Heart Hospice for the great care, kindness, and respect shown to Mick for 3 ½ years.
