Mildred C. Van Winkle, 85, of Ferdinand

Mildred C. Van Winkle, 85, of Ferdinand, passed away on Wednesday, January 29th at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville.

Mildred was born January 8, 1935 in Siberia to Henry and Elizabeth (Moog) Ernst.  She married Harold Van Winkle on June 26, 1954 in St. Meinrad Archabby Church. She was a 1953 graduate of Bristow High School. Mildred worked at Masterbrand and was a former Co-Owner of Van Winkle Sporting Goods. She was retired from CVS.

 Mildred enjoyed painting ceramics, baking, sewing and quilting. She was a member of Christ the King Parish, St. Ferdinand Church and the Ferdinand American Legion Post 124 Auxiliary.

Mildred is survived by her husband, Harold of Ferdinand; three sons, Gary (Rhonda) Van Winkle and Don (Sue Ann) Van Winkle all of Bretzville, Ken (Sara) Van Winkle of Santa Claus; two daughters, Debbi (Daniel) Nord and Pam (Albert ) Kluemper all of Ferdinand; eighteen grandchildren, Chad (Brandy) Nord, Brandon Nord, Whitney (Jonathan) Holmes, Bryce (Jessa) Nord, Stephanie (Jacob) Van Winkle, Reece (Brittany) Van Winkle, Casey (Lacey) Van Winkle, Carmen (Bailey) Van Winkle, Cody (Kayla) Van Winkle, Preston Van Winkle, Cameron Van Winkle, Lucas (Jennifer) Kluemper, Taylor (Mathew) Scherzer, Kelly Van Winkle, Victoria (Miles) Van Winkle, Chelsea Pior, Allison (Craig) Berry and Katelyn (Jason) Weber.

Mildred was preceded in death by a sister, Valeria Brownlow and a brother, Eugene Ernst.

Funeral services will be Saturday, February 1st at 11:00 AM in St. Ferdinand Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday from 3-8:00 PM at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand and also on Saturday from 7-10:30 AM at the funeral home.
