Michael “Mike or Mick” Sickbert, age 76 of Birdseye

Michael “Mike or Mick” Sickbert, age 76 of Birdseye, passed away on October 26th, 2026.

He was born on June 27, 1950 to Edwin and Hazel Doris (Katter) Sickbert.  Mike married Betty Gaither on April 21, 1973 at Salem United Church of Christ.  He had been a National Guardsman and worked at Jasper Wood Products until it closed then retired from Kimball at the 15th Street plant.  For him, retirement wasn't about slowing down; he enjoyed traveling, going to the movies and taking time to bring a little sweetness into everyone else's life, baking all kinds of treats while his faithful Aussiedoodle, Wally, stayed by his side.  Mike is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Sickbert; a brother, Tim Sickbert; and a sister, Sherry Betz.

He is survived by his daughter, Makayla Sickbert of Birdseye; a brother, Gary (Vicki) Sickbert of Birdseye; and a sister, Anita (Allen) Mehringer of Jasper.

Visitation for Mike Sickbert will be held on Friday, October 30th at Nass and Son Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the services at 2:00.  Chad Sickbert, his nephew, will conduct the service.  Condolences may be shared at www.nassandson.com
