Mary “Ann” Schmidt, 82 of Huntingburg

Mary “Ann” Schmidt, 82 of Huntingburg, passed away at Deaconess Memorial Medical Center, Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

 Ann was born on October 17, 1943 in Huntingburg, to Shelby and Ardella (Fischer) Ferguson.  She married Gary Schmidt on June 20, 1964 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

She was a 1961 graduate of Huntingburg High School and was the owner and operator of Family Hair Cutting Cabin. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg; and loved spending time with family.  She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Dave and Don Ferguson.

Ann is survived by her husband, Gary of Huntingburg; two sons, Rhett (Tina) Schmidt of Indianapolis and Thad (Dawn) Schmidt of Huntingburg; one brother, Larry (Doris) Ferguson of Huntingburg; two sisters, Jayne Losinski of Florida, Kaye (Bruce) Blevins of Michigan; two grandsons, Nicholas (Allie) and Andrew (Lauren) Schmidt.

Visitation for Mary Ann Schmidt will be held at the Nass and Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 3:00 -6:00 p.m., EDT, on Friday, September 4, 2026, with memorial services beginning at 6:00 p.m., Friday.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Dubois County Humane Society.
