Marvin “Eddie” Edward Guthrie, 83, of Loogootee

Marvin “Eddie” Edward Guthrie, 83, of Loogootee, Indiana passed away on Tuesday July 7, 2026, at Deaconess Memorial Medical Center in Jasper, Indiana. 

He was born on August 22, 1942, in Bedford, Indiana to Winferd and Esther (Dalton) Guthrie. 

Eddie worked as a handyman, performing a wide variety of general labor throughout his life. Known for his strong work ethic, he was always willing to lend a helping hand and took pride in helping others whenever he could. His kindness, dependability, and willingness to serve those around him will be remembered by all who knew him. 

Eddie married Beverly “Diane” Crane, and she preceded him in death. Eddie was also preceded by his parents; siblings: Darlene Ritchie, Tom Guthrie, Wanda Chapman, Sherri Warner, and Jerry Guthrie. 

He will be fondly remembered by his daughter, Kimberly Guthrie; siblings: Saundra Hardin and Keith David Guthrie; niece and caretaker, Kathren “Kat” Kluemper; and several other nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at the Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee, Indiana with Pastor Dennis Cecil to officiate. A visitation will take place the same day between 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date in Anderson Cemetery, Shoals, Indiana.
