Martin J. “Marty” Steltenpohl, age 73

Marty was born in Jasper, Indiana, on December 13, 1952, to Bernard and Viola (Sermersheim) Steltenpohl.  He married Sonya Schroeder on February 17, 1973, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana.

He was a 1970 graduate of Jasper High School.He was a truck driver for Breidenbaugh’s Concrete for 30 years.  He then retired from the City of Jasper Wastewater Plant, where he had worked for 10 years.Marty was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Ireland.He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Sonya Steltenpohl, Jasper, IN, two children, Bart (Tiffany) Steltenpohl, Jasper, IN, and Jayme (Eric) Rasche, Jasper, IN, seven grandchildren, Ashton Messier, Sydney Gehlhausen, Olivia Steltenpohl, Isabella Steltenpohl, Brooklyn Rasche, Cali Rasche, and Elijah Steltenpohl, one brother, Kenneth (Sarah) Steltenpohl, Jasper, IN, and one brother-in-law, Mark Merder, Jasper, IN.

Preceding him in death are his parents and two sisters, Janice Merder and Anne Racicot
