Marie A. (Eichmiller) Thimling, age 97, of Haysville

Marie A. (Eichmiller) Thimling, age 97, of Haysville, Indiana, passed away surrounded by family at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper, Indiana.

Marie was born in Haysville, Indiana, on March 29, 1929, to Edward and Katherine (Neukam) Weisheit.  

She married Lewis Eichmiller on September 16, 1948, and he preceded her in death on August 3, 1974.  She then married Frank Thimling on March 18, 1995, and he preceded her in death on September 19, 2007.

She earned her high school diploma from Dubois High School.

She retired from Northwood Good Samaritan Nursing Center, where she had been a cook for many years.  In addition, she had also been a cook for the Northeast Dubois School Corporation, where she transferred and served the food for the Haysville Elementary School.

She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville, Indiana, where she was on the church council, a Sunday school teacher, and a member of WELCA.  She was an active member of the V.F.W. Post #673 Auxiliary, a charter member of the Haysville Fire Department Auxiliary, which was established in 1968 and of which she held many offices, a past Northeast Dubois School Corporation Board member and past Republican Precinct Committee Member.

Marie an avid quilter, enjoyed playing cards, dancing, family gatherings, and spending time with her grandchildren, especially coloring with them and baking them her famous M&M cookies.

She is survived by two daughters, Beverly (Dennis) Beckman, Haysville, IN, and Marlene (Daniel) Livingston, Haysville, IN, one son, Sam (Missy) Eichmiller, Bedford, IN, one step- daughter, Deanne (Tim) Cooper, Dubois, IN, one son-in-law, Dennis (Susan) Neukam, Jasper, IN, 12 grandchildren, Felicia Mattingly, Joel (Ashley) Sedam, and John Sedam, Jackie (Scott) Mundy, Mindy (Tim) Lueken, and Brittney (Dennis) Prechtel, Adam (Jan) Livingston and Kelly Schmitt (partner, Christin Johnson), Ben (Kacy) Eichmiller and Andrew (Elizabeth) Eichmiller, and Kristi (Norman Pabros) Cooper and Kim Cooper Fazio,  24 great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Marcella Weisheit, Jasper, IN, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death besides her husbands, are one daughter, Sharon Neukam, one son-in-law, Gary Sedam, three sisters, Vernelda Mauder, Mildred Noble, and Mabel Woolsey, and five brothers, Lenus, Amos, Lester, James, and Cletus Weisheit.

A funeral service for Marie A. (Eichmiller) Thimling will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 11, 2026, at Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.  Pastor Timothy Kraemer will officiate.

A visitation will be held from 2:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, Indiana, and one hour before services at the church on Friday from 10:00-11:00 a.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Christ Lutheran Church in Haysville or to a favorite charity.
