Lonnie “Billy” William Tolbert, 52, of Loogootee
Lonnie “Billy” William Tolbert, 52, of Loogootee, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday July 30,
2022, at 5:15 AM at Deaconess Gateway in Newburgh, IN.
He was born on December 19, 1969, in Jasper, IN. Lonnie was the son of Linda (Denny) Warren
and William “Bill” Tolbert of Loogootee, IN.
He worked at USG for over 20 years starting as a mill worker and later becoming a supervisor. In
his younger years he also worked at Jasper Laminates as a supervisor. He married Teresa
(Smith) Tolbert on May 27, 1989, and she survives. Lonnie loved Rodeo, NASCAR, Baseball, and
football, with his favorite being the rodeo. He traveled many a mile with his family so both his
children could compete at State and National levels. Lonnie worked many sleepless nights to
ensure their safety and further their abilities to compete from elementary to high school.
Lonnie is preceded in death by his grandparents, Alonzo and Clara Denny.
He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Teresa Tolbert of Loogootee, his children, Brandon
Tolbert (Paige), Crystal Tolbert (Caden) both of Loogootee, his mother, Linda (Denny) Warren of
Loogootee, his father William “Bill” Tolbert and his wife Leah of Loogootee, his sisters, Carrie
(George) Cox of Winslow, IN, Jami (Jason) Bozeman of Evansville, his special family, Sandi
(Randy) Bair of Dubois, IN, Tammy (Adam) Smith of Canton, GA, Krissy Smith of Loogootee, and
many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral Service will be held on Friday August 5, 2022, at 11:00 A.M at Blake Funeral Home in
Loogootee, IN with Pastor Caleb Moffatt to officiate. Burial will follow in Truelove Cemetery.
Lonnie was down to earth and never met a stranger. The family requests all visitors come as
they are, casual dress is suitable. Visitation will be held on Thursday August 4, 2022, from 4:00
PM until 8:00 PM at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee, and again on Friday from 10:00 AM until
the time of service.
Memorial donations can be made to the Indiana High School Rodeo Association in memory of
Lonnie.
