Kent W. Hochgesang, age 54, of St. Henry

Kent W. Hochgesang, age 54, of St. Henry, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2026, at Deaconess Memorial Medical Center in Jasper.

Kent was born on January 23, 1972, in Huntingburg to Ernest “Ernie” and Eileen (Fleck) Hochgesang. He married Yvonne Pulley on October 18, 1997, at St. Henry Catholic Church. He graduated from Southridge High School in 1990. Kent was employed at Pund Plumbing Heating & Cooling and was a member of Huntingburg United Methodist Church. Kent always had a strong passion for everything vintage. His hobbies included restoring vintage gas pumps, admiring classic cars, and antique shopping. One of his favorite and nearly nightly rituals included watching the wildlife from his swing and feeding the fish. Kent had a deep appreciation for the simple things and could find peace within anything around him. Above all, Kent’s biggest pride and joy was his family. His love for his family was evident in everything he did, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

He is survived by his wife, Yvonne Pulley Hochgesang of St. Henry; two daughters, Audra Hochgesang of Nashville, TN and Anna Hochgesang of St. Henry; his parents, Ernie and Eileen Hochgesang of St. Henry; two siblings, Ryan (Kim) Hochgesang of Lamar and Derrick (Leigh) Hochgesang of St. Henry; and by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Kent Hochgesang will be held at 2:00 p.m., E.D.T. (1:00 p.m., C.D.T.), Saturday, September 5, 2026, at Rainey Funeral Home in Dale. Burial will follow at St. Henry Cemetery in St. Henry, Indiana. Pastor David Chinn will officiate the service.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m., E.D.T. (9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., C.D.T.) on Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home. In honor of Kent’s love for classic cars and old vehicles, the family invites those attending the services to drive their classic or vintage vehicles to the funeral home as a special tribute to his memory.
