Julia Kaye Knox, age 23

Julia Kaye Knox, age 23, born June 21, 2002, of Denham Springs, LA, passed away peacefully, surrounded by friends and family, on Thursday, April 30th at Ochsner Medical Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Julia was 6' 03" and full of life. She loved listening to others and was always ready to offer encouragement and advice. One of her favorite pastimes was going on "TikTok Live" and talking to people from all over the world. She loved animals and was forever trying to provide a home for every critter she came across. She adored her two cats, Sebastian and Midnight.

She was a talented, self-taught guitarist and had a passion for music. She loved traveling, sitting by a campfire, and going catfishing at night. Her most recent trip was to Singapore. Her favorite restaurant was the "Fiery Crab" in Denham Springs, Louisiana, where she would order her crab legs dinner and was always "up for sushi".

Julia attended Central Elementary and Lebanon Middle School in central Indiana before moving with her family to Louisiana in 2017. There she attended Denham Springs High School until her senior year, before moving to Santa Claus, IN with her parents. She graduated from Heritage Hills High School in 2021.

She was a long jumper in track and played for both basketball teams, which led her to meet her future sister-in-law, Raychelle, and to introduce her brother, Christian, to his high school sweetheart and future wife. She liked to refer to herself as "the glue" of the family.

Julia had a lifelong passion for law enforcement and attended law camps in both Indiana and Alabama, and was a member of the Livingston Parish Explorer Program during high school. In 2018, she was awarded the highest distinction honor at the Alabama Law Enforcement Camp.

After high school, she served as a correctional officer for the Spencer County Sheriff's Department and for the Livingston Parish Correctional Facility. Though she loved law enforcement, the demands on her health were great, and she eventually found a knack for working with her hands. She worked for Masterbrand and Best Home Furnishings in Ferdinand, IN, before moving back to Denham Springs in 2025 to be near her friends, brother, and sister-in-law. She was a hard worker, and her most recent goal was to be a full-time cabinet-maker.

She is survived by her parents, Kevin and Elizabeth Knox of Santa Claus, IN, her brother, Christian Knox (Raychelle) of Denham Springs, LA, her grandparents, Robert and Darlene Mosby of Santa Claus, IN, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held on Monday, May 11th, 2026 at Rainey Funeral Home 109 W Hammond St. Dale, IN 47523. Visitation will be from 3:00-6:00 pm with the service beginning at 6:00 pm.

The family would like to extend their gratitude and thank everyone for their love, prayers, and support.
"But those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings like eagles. They shall run and not be weary. They shall walk and not faint". - Isaiah 40:31
