Joseph M. Spears Sr., 83, of Loogootee, Indiana passed away at 4:09 p.m.
Thursday March 14, 2024 at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center with his
nieces and nephew by his side.
He was born May 28, 1940 in Shoals, Indiana to the late George and Thursa
(Hoke) Spears.
Joe was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. He was an avid baseball
fan and loved the St. Louis Cardinals.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Joseph M. Spears Jr and infant twins Bobby
Joe and Billie Joe Spears; parents, George and Thursa Spears; partner, Vivian
Chipley; and multiple siblings.
Joe is survived by his children, Samantha Jo (Johnnie Sr.) Thomas of Evansville,
Tonya Dale (David) Epperson of Hardinsburg, Richelle Lynn (Aaron) Higdon of
Kissimmee, Florida, Joni Lynne Draper (Dean Holt) of Cave City, Kentucky and
Jessie Chipley of Kentucky; 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Saturday, April 6 th , 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at
Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee. A Celebration of Life will follow at the
Loogootee American Legion from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
