Jan Marie Blackgrave, age 45 of Celestine

Jan Marie Blackgrave, age 45 of Celestine, Indiana, passed away peacefully at 8:18 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2019 at home.   

Jan was born in Huntingburg on August 9, 1974 to Richard R. and Joan A. (Nord) Reckelhoff.  She married Aaron Blackgrave on April 17, 1999 in St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Dubois.   She was a 1992 Graduate of Northeast Dubois High School and a 1992 graduate of Tri-State Beauty College specializing in nails. Jan owned and operated Illusions Nail-Hair Studio and Day Spa in Jasper for 23 years, and had worked as a nail technician for 27 years. She was also a OPI Representative. She was a member of St. Isidore Parish - St. Celestine Campus, the Women of the Moose Chapter 955, and Dubois County ABATE. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and all her clients.  She loved the time spent at her cabin and boating at Beaver Lake.  She was also an avid runner, running a marathon and several half marathons, including the Pikes Peak Challenge and several Tough Mudders.  

 Surviving are her husband, Aaron Blackgrave of Celestine, two daughters, Halle Blackgrave and Aubre Blackgrave, both at home, her parents Richard and Joan Reckelhoff of Dubois, two sisters, Vicki Lieber (Christian) of Colorado Springs and Susan Wood of Elberfeld, IN, mother-in-law Marge Kreilein (Ken) of Celestine and father-in-law, Tim Blackgrave of Jasper, nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was one nephew, Matthew Wood, her maternal grandparents, Dorothy and Elmer Nord, her paternal grandparents, Emma Reckelhoff, and Anna and Ed Reckelhoff, and two aunts, Patty Dike and Barbara Nord.   

A Mass of Christian Burial for Jan Marie Blackgrave will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2019, at St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.   A visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 26, 2019 at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, IN.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Isidore Parish, the Dubois County Community Foundation - Jan Blackgrave Memorial Fund, or the Lange Fuhs Cancer Center.
