James Lee “JJ” Jones, 69, of Loogootee
James Lee “JJ” Jones, 69, of Loogootee, Indiana, passed away peacefully at the
Villages of Oak Ridge in Washington, Indiana on December 8, 2025.
Born on February 21, 1956, JJ was the beloved son of Pershing Jones and Dorothy
(Padgett) Jones.
James dedicated much of his career to Hedinger Beverage Distributing in Jasper,
Indiana, first working in delivery and later transitioning into sales. He spent the
remainder of his working years with the Martin County Highway Department. Known for
his warm and outgoing nature, James was a man who truly never met a stranger.
He
enjoyed spending his free time hunting, fishing, and golfing. Though not affiliated with a
specific church, he was baptized into the Catholic faith and considered himself a
spiritual person.
JJ was preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Allen Swayze.
He will
be remembered fondly by his surviving family: One sister, Terry Swayze; niece Megan
(Tim) Miller; nephew, Travis (Samatha) Swayze; two great-nephews, Clayton and Chase
Miller and close friends, Larry & Linda Goldman and Dan & Vernita Gingerich.
A funeral service will be held at Blake Funeral Home on Saturday, December 13, 2025
at 11:00 a.m. with the Very Rev. J. Kenneth Walker officiating. Burial to follow at St.
Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Bramble, Indiana.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025 from 9:00 am to time of service
at 11:00 a.m. at Blake Funeral Home, Loogootee.
