James Edward “Jim” Dukes, 97, of Depauw

James Edward “Jim” Dukes, 97, of Depauw, Indiana passed from this life on November 6, 2025 at the home of his son, Timothy Dukes.  Jim was born on January 20, 1928 in Milltown, Indiana to the late Olo and Ella Frances (Durham) Dukes.

Jim was a former lineman and repairman for Indiana Bell (AT&T) in New Albany, Indiana.  Jim was a United States Army Veteran, having served in WWII and Korea.  He was a member of the Milltown Baptist Church and enjoyed bass fishing,

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Freda Seacat Dukes; a daughter, Tina Marie Dukes; step sons, Danny Jones and Ricky Jones; and his siblings:  Virginia Linnie, Dorothy Clark, Carmen Elliott, John Dukes, William “Bill” Duke, Roberta Barnwall, and Norma Bright.

He is survived by his sons,  Tony A. Dukes of Depauw, Indiana and Timothy E. Dukes of Mt. Pleasant, Indiana; a brother, Charles “Butch” Dukes of Milltown, Indiana; a sister, Lula Mae VanWinkle of Milltown, Indiana; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Milltown, Indiana.  Interment will follow in the Pilot Knob Cemetery, Milltown, Indiana.

Visitation will be on Monday, November 10, 2025 from 4-8 p.m. EST and after 11:00 a.m. EST on Tuesday, all at the funeral home.

Bro. Scott Blessitt will officiate the service.
