Inez Elliott, age 99, of Dale

Inez Elliott, age 99, of Dale, passed away on July 25, 2026, surrounded by her family at home.

She was born on April 10, 1927, in El Paso, Texas, to Manuel and Ines (Silva) Renteria, and married John Elliott on November 29, 1953. Inez was a devoted member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dale, where she faithfully served by cleaning the church for more than 20 years. She also served as President of the Christian Mothers Society. Inez found joy in spending time outdoors, especially hiking with her husband, John, and then bringing home baby trees she’d find and planting them in the backyard. She loved cats and in later years had two consecutive toy poodles as constant companions. Above all, she cherished her family and treasured every opportunity to spend time with them.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Elliott; one son, John G. Elliott; and seven siblings, Victor, Leichi, Martha, Mary, Juana, Gracie and Paz.

She is survived by four sons, Gerry Elliott of Colorado, Marty Elliott of Dale, Manny Elliott of San Diego and Louie Elliott of Dale; eight grandchildren, Josh, Rhea, Ryan, Tyler, Jayna, Kenny, Suzy and Johnathon; and by many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

A funeral mass for Inez Elliott will be held at 10:00 a.m., C.D.T., on Monday, August 3, 2026, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dale.  Father Martin Estrada will officiate the mass. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Dale with military graveside rites conducted by the Abe Lincoln Post #444 Honor Guard.  

Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m., C.D.T., on Sunday, August 2nd, at Rainey Funeral Home in Dale; and also from 9:00-10:00 a.m., C.D.T. on Monday, at the church prior to the mass.  Condolences may be shared online at: www.raineyfuneralhome.com
