Elizabeth Jan “Piddle” (Baker) Sanders, 65, of Loogootee

Elizabeth Jan “Piddle” (Baker) Sanders, 65, of Loogootee, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at her residence. 

Born September 17, 1960, in Washington, she was the daughter of Fred and Gertrude (Holt) Hatfield and Margie (Heichelbech) Baker. 

Elizabeth Jan “Piddle” graduated from Shoals High School. 

She worked as a CNA, QMA, EMT, and also for the American Red Cross teaching CPR and First Aid. 

Elizabeth Jan “Piddle” married Jeff Sanders on October 29, 1977, and he survives. 

She loved nature and being outdoors, crocheting, crafting, and spending time with her grandchildren and family.  

Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband, Jeff; children, Misti Dawn (Robert) Weigle, Brandi Marie (David) Gilbert, and Jacob Cole (Amber) Sanders; grandchildren, Tristin, Logan, and Ethan Moffatt, Samanda, Lanita, and Alayna Weigle, Austin and Gage Gilbert, and Shane, Linni, and Rennae Sanders; great-grandchildren, Katielynn and Chandler Moffatt; siblings, Brent (Pam) Baker, Herman Hatfield, Carl Hatfield, and Joe Baker; and many nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her birth parents; adopted parents; grandparents, Ed and Emma Heichelbech, and George and Maxine Baker; and sister, Coby Payne.  

Funeral service will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 29, 2026, at the Queen-Lee Chapel of George Funeral Care, with Pastor Barry Cohr officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. on Thursday at the Queen-Lee Chapel in Shoals.
