Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Fuhs
Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Fuhs, born February 12, 1929, in Ireland, Indiana, passed away peacefully surrounded by the family she cherished so dearly on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 at 7:45 am at St. Charles Health Campus, in Jasper, Indiana.
She was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Victoria (Hopf) Sermersheim.
She was employed by GE until she became a dedicated farmer’s wife and mother. Betty’s life was defined by her tireless work ethic and her loving heart. On August 21, 1948, she married Linus Fuhs, with whom she built a life and a legacy until his passing on July 19, 2000.
She found great joy in the simple, meaningful things: quilting, reading, and countless hours watching and caring for her many grandchildren and granddogs.
Betty’s family was truly the love of her life. She leaves behind daughters; Becky (Bill) Wehr, Shelly (Bill) Seger, and Patty Fuhs (Nick Eckert), sons; Terry Fuhs and Steve Fuhs, and son-in-law Norm Hopf, all of Jasper, IN.
Betty’s also leaves behind 15 grandchildren: Brad (Jane) Wehr, Kim Wehr Cipowski, Michael Wehr (Kami Goodwin), Kurt (Shannon) Fuhs, Terra (Keith) Sander, Chris (Amy) Hopf, Neil (Jenny) Hopf, Elizabeth (Blake) Kempf, Stuart (Dana) Fuhs, Spencer (Brittany) Fuhs, Wayne Shulte, Eric (Erin) Schulte, Shanelle (Kurt) Best, Gwen (Calvin) Persohn, and Brock (Nate Glaser) Moeller, three step-granddaughters, 24 great-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, siblings Rosie Schnaus, Linda Rohleder, and Bob Sermersheim.
In addition to her husband, Linus, Betty was preceded in death by one daughter: Cindy Hopf, one daughter-in-law: Sharon Fuhs, one granddaughter: Oliva Schulte, one great grandchild: Megan Wehr, siblings: Dorothy (Ed) Bartley, Rita “Pete” (Don) Werne, and Jerome (Laverne) Sermersheim, and in-laws: Rob Schnaus, Wes Rohleder, and Dolly Sermersheim.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Elizabeth “Betty” Fuhs will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service time at the church on Saturday.
