Donna R. Hagedorn, age 76, of Dale

Donna R. Hagedorn, age 76, of Dale, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at The Waters of Huntingburg.


She was born on July 11, 1950, in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Robert and Dorothy (Fendel) Schum. Donna was united in marriage to the love of her life, Albert L. Hagedorn, on June 6, 1970, at Saint Meinrad Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on February 28, 2018.


Donna retired on her birthday, July 11, 2016, after 41 years of dedicated service at Saint Meinrad Archabbey. She spent 11 years working at Abbey Press before serving as the manager of the Scholar Shop for the next 30 years. In addition to her career at the Archabbey, Donna was also a self-employed farmer for many years.


A devoted member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Donna found joy in tending to her flower gardens and cherished every opportunity to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In a remarkable reflection of a life well-lived, Donna was born, celebrated her retirement, and peacefully passed away all on July 11; a date that marked several of the most meaningful milestones in her life.


She is survived by three sons, Phil (JoAnn) Hagedorn of Lincoln City, Jason (Martha) Hagedorn of Dale, and Aaron (Sheila) Hagedorn of Santa Claus; three siblings, Larry (Cynthia) Schum, Becky (Mark) Fella, and Kenny (Deb) Schum; seven grandchildren, Cody (Caroline) Hagedorn, Dylan Hagedorn, Madison (Dakoda) Ebert, Jacob Hagedorn, Kendra Hagedorn, Lacey (Casey) VanWinkle, and Jayme (Cole) Anderson; five great-grandchildren, Emmett and Jax VanWinkle, Laylah Anderson, Jackson Hagedorn, Lincoln Ebert, and one great-grandbaby girl on the way.


A funeral mass for Donna R. Hagedorn will be held at 10:00 a.m., C.D.T., Thursday, July 16, 2026, at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dale. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Dale.


Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 p.m., C.D.T., on Wednesday, July 15th, at Rainey Funeral Home in Dale; and also from 8:00-10:00 a.m., C.D.T., on Thursday, prior to the mass at the church. Condolences may be shared online at: www.raineyfuneralhome.com
