Donald L. Freson, age 86, of Jasper

Donald L. Freson, age 86, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away surrounded by family at 8:28 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at Deaconess Memorial Medical Center in Jasper.

Don was born in Huntingburg, Indiana, on March 29, 1940, to Charles and Delores (Brace) Freson.  He married Eileen Vonderheide on May 1, 1965, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, Indiana.He was a graduate of Huntingburg High School.

He was a United States Army Veteran, who served in Germany.Don was a telecommunications operator and supervisor for the Indiana State Police, where he retired after 44 years of service.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic church in Jasper, American Legion Post #147, Jasper K of C, and the Jasper Outdoor Recreation.  He was an avid blood donor, giving blood numerous times during the American Red Cross Blood Drives.

He enjoyed travelling with his wife, gardening, being outside, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Eileen Freson, Jasper, IN, three children, Stacy (Bill) Allen, Jasper, IN, Kevin (Kristi) Freson, Jasper, IN, Bryan Freson, and partner, Stephanie Keith, Jasper, IN, six grandchildren, Briar Allen and partner, Cole Hartshorne, and Draven Allen, Dustin (Rae), Cory (Shayna), Brady and Zach Freson, five great-grandchildren, Gracelynn, Cayden, Brayden, Brooklynn, and Sully Freson, three sisters, Margaret Bonifer, Ireland, IN, Barbara (Bill) Noll, Wharton, MD, Julie (Mike) Frick, Olympia, WA, one brother, Dan (Ron) Freson, Cleveland, OH, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death is one brother, Doug Freson, one brother-in-law, Gerald Bonifer, and one niece, Hillary Noll.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald L. Freson will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026, at St. Joseph Catholic in Jasper, Indiana, with entombment to follow in the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper.  The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military graveside rites.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the 12:00 p.m. Mass time at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Monday. Donations may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church or the American Red Cross.
