Diane Lehmkuhler, age 70, of Huntingburg
Diane Lehmkuhler, age 70, of Huntingburg, passed away on June 18,2026, at Scenic Hills at the Monastery in Ferdinand. Her unwavering faith was the foundation of her life, and she loved and served her Lord and Savior with all her heart.
She was born on March 30, 1956, in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Edwin and Stella (Edele) Fehribach. From a young age, Diane possessed a strong work ethic, spending her early years mowing lawns and babysitting. Throughout her life, she held various positions, including 12 years as a cashier, 20 years of self-employment, and work as a Direct Support Professional in a group home setting.
Diane was a compassionate caregiver who devoted countless hours to caring for her parents, her in-laws, and her sister, Geri. She also dedicated nine years to helping her severely autistic grandson reach his fullest potential, faithfully praying for him and encouraging his growth and development. One of her greatest joys was praying the Rosary with him.
Driven by her deep faith and desire to help others, Diane founded Angel Mission in 2005 to assist those in need. In 2006, she authored Angel Mission Coincidences Inspired by God, sharing stories of faith and divine providence. Remarkably, within six hours of beginning the book, donations from Rockport Shoes and Self Magazine helped make possible the establishment of the Angel Mission Endowment Fund through the Dubois County Community Foundation in Jasper. Through this fund, Diane's legacy of generosity continues to support local initiatives, including Big Brothers Big Sisters school supply programs, Vincennes University Jasper Campus scholarships, and programs serving individuals with special needs.
Diane is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Lee Lehmkuhler of Huntingburg, whom she married on April 28, 1979, after the two were high school sweethearts. Also left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jill (Dustin) Matheis of Huntingburg; her beloved grandson, Trey Matheis, who held a special place in her heart; her sister, Mavis (Terry) Abner of Pensacola, Florida; and two nieces and two nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ronald Fehribach; and sister, Geri Fehribach.
No services will be held at this time. Rainey Funeral Home in Dale has been entrusted with handling the arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made in Diane’s name to the Angel Mission Fund through the Dubois County Community Foundation. Condolences may be shared online at: www.raineyfuneralhome.com
