Colleen M. Behme, 84, of Evansville

Colleen M. Behme, 84, of Evansville, Indiana, formerly of Washington, passed away at 2:18 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2023 at West River Health Campus. 

She was born March 6,1939 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Leonard and Ann (Murphy) Adams. 

Colleen married Robert “Bob” Behme on June 15, 1963 and he survives.

She retired from NSWC Crane after 30 years as a Supervisory Occupational Health and Safety Nurse. 

Colleen was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Montgomery, Indiana. She and her husband, Bob, both received the Simon Brute' Award in 2021 in recognition of their superior commitment in living a life of Christian stewardship. She also was a member of the Daughters of Isabella Washington Circle 598 and the Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP). She also enjoyed volunteering at the Cardinal Care Daycare for the Washington Catholic Schools. In her free time, she enjoyed attending yoga classes at Yoga on Main.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Ann Adams; siblings, Mary Weber, Jane Adams, and Barbara (Paul) Crudo; brother-in-law, Tom Tucker.

Colleen is survived by her son, Kurt (Sheri) Behme of Evansville; grandchildren, Megan (Andy) Wathen, Alex Behme and Anne Behme; great-grandchildren, Kylan, Katelyn, Kinley, and Khloe; siblings, Geraldine Tucker and Larry “Butch” (Carolyn) Adams; and life long friend, Clara Miller.

The family would like to thank the staff at West River Health Campus and Heart to Heart Hospice for their care, support, and compassion during this difficult time.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Sudhakar Bhastati and concelebrant Rev. James Koressel at 11:00 a.m. EST on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Montgomery. Burial will follow in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery. 

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 24, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST at Blake & Wagler Funeral Home in Montgomery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Daughters of Isabella Washington Circle 598.
