Charles B. Ebert, age 83, of Dubois, Indiana passed away at 5:05 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at home surrounded by family.
Charlie was born in Fulda, Indiana, on June 10, 1942, to Lawrence and Lorraine (Gudorf) Ebert. He married his wife of 59 years, Carol Pieper on April 29, 1967, at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois, Indiana.
He retired from Jasper Municipal Utilities, where he had been a mechanic for 36 years. He was a member of St. Isidore Parish – St. Raphael Catholic Church in Dubois, Indiana, the Ferdinand American Legion Post #124, and the Jasper Boat Club, where he had been a past president.
He played Santa Claus for 25 years for anyone who needed him, as he enjoyed it very much. Charles also enjoyed mechanic work, farming, and spending time with family and friends.
Surviving is his wife, Carol Ebert, Dubois, IN, one daughter, Tina Ebert, Dubois, IN, one son, Ryan “Bubba” Ebert, Dubois, IN, one half-sister, Marie (Frank) Gessner, three half-brothers, Pat Meyer, David Meyer, and Ted Meyer Jr.
Preceding him in death is one son, Paul Ebert, one sister, Bertha Denning, and one brother, Edgar Ebert.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Charles B. Ebert will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The Ferdinand American Legion Post #124 will conduct military graveside rites. A visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Isidore Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
