Barbara Kay (Swayze) Eichmiller, 88, of Cannelburg
Barbara Kay (Swayze) Eichmiller, 88, of Cannelburg, Indiana passed away
peacefully on September 29, 2026, at the Linda E. White Hospice House in
Evansville, Indiana, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on May 14, 1938, in Martin County, Indiana to the late Clyde and
Madge (Morris) Swayze. Barbara married Paul Eichmiller on October 5, 1980, and
he survives.
Barbara graduated from Shoals High School and worked at Crim Enterprises,
Shoals National Gypsum, and West Boggs Park before retiring from NWSC Crane
Division. She was a member of Antioch Christian Church for 14 years. In her free
time, she enjoyed playing cards, dancing, and watching old movies on TV. She will
be lovingly remembered and missed by her family and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, Gregory Glenn (LaRita) Taylor;
siblings, Loren Swayze, Elizabeth “Libby” Trambaugh, Merldean Trambaugh,
Dorothy Souerdike, Richard Swayze, Hubert Swayze, and Hildred Harshaw.
Barbara is survived by her husband of 46 years, Paul; her children, Paul Thomas
“Tom” Taylor (Jennifer Fuhrman) of Shoals, Mark Lewis (Dawn) Taylor of
Loogootee, Tammy Deanene (Matt) Halter of Vincennes; stepchildren, Sheila
(Doug) Hammer of Evansville, Eric Eichmiller of Washington; 7 grandchildren, 10
great-grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, 6 step great-grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 10:00 A.M. at
Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee, Indiana, with Pastor Jeff Williams to officiate.
Burial will follow in Mt. Union Cemetery in Loogootee, Indiana.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
at Blake Funeral Home in Loogootee, Indiana.
