Amos Philmore Hemmerlein, 85, of Jasper

Amos Philmore Hemmerlein, 85, of Jasper passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023, at Good Samaritan Retirement Community in Jasper, Indiana.

Amos was born in Jasper, Dubois County, Indiana, on May 5, 1938, to the late Jacob and Mary (Thimling) Hemmerlein. He is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Scott (Tamara), Kim, and Skyler (Emily); stepchildren, Justin (Amber) Porter and Pam Porter; and grandchildren, Tirani, SaraJessica, Jacob, ChloeElise, Preston, Rachel, Jessie, and Payton. Also surviving are his sister, Marcella Laughlin; sister-in-law, Marilyn Hemmerlein; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Amos was preceded in death by siblings, Willis who was killed in action WWII; Edward; Leola who died in infancy; Alfred; Margret Zehr; Eugene; Helen Mann; Harold; Elizabeth Ledbetter; and Viola Pride.

He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, farmed the Hemmerlein family farm, and was a construction worker with the Carpenter’s Union.  He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, hunting mushrooms, travel, and spending time with family.
