Woman Unharmed After Storms Blow Tree onto Her Car on Newton Street

JASPER -- A Jasper woman is lucky she wasn't hurt after Thursday's severe storms blew a tree on her car while she was driving on Newton Street in Jasper.
Police say the woman was driving south on Newton Street approaching Matthew Avenue when a tree in the 1800 block of Newton blew over and onto her vehicle.
The southbound lane of Newton Street was closed for about an hour as crews removed the tree.
Damage to the vehicle is believed to be around $5,000.
