Vincennes Man Arrested After Vehicle Pursuit
Earlier today, a vehicle pursuit led to the arrest of Ethan Stantz, 39, Vincennes, IN. He was incarcerated in Knox County and is facing preliminary charges for Resisting Law Enforcement with a Motor Vehicle (Level 6 Felony) and Reckless Driving (A Misdemeanor).
Today, April 10, 2026, at approximately 12:25 p.m., Indiana State Police Lieutenant Jason Allen attempted to stop a black Chevrolet Camaro convertible traveling 115 mph on US 41 near Vincennes. The driver of the Chevrolet, later identified as Ethan Stantz, allegedly failed to stop and led the trooper on a vehicle pursuit.
The vehicle exited eastbound onto US 50 weaving in and out of traffic. When the roadway cleared, the vehicle sped up to estimated speeds of over 150 mph. Lieutenant Allen lost sight of the vehicle near Wheatland, and the pursuit was terminated.
Officers from the Indiana State Police, Daviess County Sheriff’s Office and Washington Police Department remained in the Washington area searching for the vehicle. At approximately 2:30 p.m., Trooper Mitch Wier spotted a vehicle matching the description parked at the Angle Inn in Washington.
Lieutenant Allen responded to the business and identified the car as the vehicle that fled. Officers entered the Angle Inn, where Lieutenant Allen identified the driver. The suspect was arrested and taken to the Knox County Jail.
This investigation is ongoing.
Lieutenant Allen was assisted by Senior Trooper Mitch Wier, the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, and Washington City Police.
