UPDATE: Authorities Seek Suspect After Semi Truck Shooting in Daviess County
Daviess County, Kentucky: UPDATE 10:30 pmFollowing the release of photographs through local media, several people called in with information identifying the truck including the owner of the vehicle who provided the identity of the driver and provided a location with information obtained from a GPS tracker he keeps on the vehicle. Using that information, DCSO deputies quickly located the semi in the 200 Block of Greyhound Drive in Owensboro and stopped it. The driver was detained without incident and taken to DCSO for an interrogation. A search warrant is being executed on the semi, and charges are pending. Sheriff Youngman would like to thank the media for their prompt attention to this matter as well as the public for providing vital information and the Owensboro Police Department for their assistance. The investigation is ongoing.
Daviess County, Kentucky: (Original)At approximately 6:44 pm, on Saturday, August 1st, Owensboro-Daviess County Central Dispatch received numerous calls regarding gunshots being fired in the 5400 Block of West 5th Street Road. DCSO deputies were immediately dispatched, and initial reports indicated that a black semi-truck with no trailer was traveling westbound on West 5th Street Road when several shots were fired from the vehicle. Some of the rounds struck a house in the 5300 Block of Ashland Avenue, and a subject standing in his yard stated the subject also fired rounds at him. No injuries were reported. The vehicle continued westbound was last seen turning on Lydanne Bridge Road. Detectives and patrol deputies are on scene collecting evidence and speaking to witnesses. Please share the attached pictures of the suspect vehicle. If anyone has information regarding the operator of the truck, please have them contact 911. The motive behind the shooting is unknown at this time and the suspect should be considered armed and dangerous.
