Tim Rasche Announces Independent Candidacy for Dubois County Sheriff

To the residents of Dubois County whom I am proud to serve, my name is Tim Rasche, and I am announcing my candidacy as an Independent for Dubois County Sheriff in the November 3, 2026, election.

Before I begin, I want to thank the people of Dubois County for everything you have done to support our Sheriff's Department. You have stood behind us through both the good times and the difficult ones. Time and again, our community has stepped forward to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed. Your support has been invaluable, and I am deeply grateful.

I was born and raised in Dubois County. My parents were the late Pete Rasche and Emily (Giesler) Rasche. Law enforcement has been a part of my life from the very beginning. My father served 37 years with the Jasper Police Department, retiring as Assistant Chief of Police. He had a tremendous influence on my life, allowing my brothers and me to help prepare the classes he taught throughout his career. He also founded the Teens for Justice program and served as the Jasper High School liaison officer. The lessons, values, and work ethic he instilled in me continue to guide me today.

I married Ann (Tucker) Rasche, and we have been married for 24 years. Ann is also a lifelong Dubois County resident. She comes from a family that is well known throughout our community. She worked alongside her mother, Rita Tucker, and her sister, Carol Stutsman, helping manage and operate Carol's Bridal on the square in Jasper, where they served families from Dubois County and the surrounding communities for many years.

I am a proud United States Army veteran, having served in the U.S. Army, Army Reserve, and Indiana National Guard. Service to my country has always been important to me. While serving in the National Guard, I attended Vincennes University and the Vincennes University Jasper Campus, where I studied law enforcement.

I have proudly served the Dubois County Sheriff's Department for the past 32 years. I worked six years as a corrections officer and four years as Chief Jailer. As Chief Jailer from 2000 to 2004, I managed the jail during one of the most overcrowded periods in the history of the Dubois County Security Center. The average daily inmate population for over a year reached as many as 130 inmates in an 84-bed facility. This was a struggle for the inmates and my staff. I was able to overcome these challenges with dedicated Jail officers and cooperation from inmates. For the past 22 years, I have served as a Deputy Sheriff. I currently serve as a Field Training Officer, a position I have held for the past 10 years, mentoring and preparing the next generation of law enforcement professionals.

During my career, I have had the privilege of serving under four sheriffs. I strongly believe in honoring the traditions of our department because they represent respect for the men and women who dedicated themselves to serving our county before us.

I am a member of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) and have always enjoyed working with children in our community. For 14 years, I have served as the drill instructor at Kids Camp and have also participated in programs such as Shop with a Cop, Stranger Danger, and Take a Kid Fishing.

In closing, since graduating from the law enforcement academy, it has been my goal to one day serve as Sheriff of Dubois County. If I am elected, I am committed to working hard to ensure the Sheriff's Office operates as efficiently and effectively as possible while being a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars. I believe the Sheriff's Office can continue to provide outstanding public safety by pursuing every grant opportunity available, evaluating how we do business, and implementing practical improvements that increase efficiency without sacrificing the quality of service our citizens deserve.

I am committed to serving the citizens of Dubois County. It would be an honor to serve as your Sheriff, and I respectfully ask for your vote on November 3, 2026.
