TIM LAMPERT OFFICIALLY FILES CANDIDACY FOR DUBOIS COUNTY SHERIFF
Dubois County Sheriff’s Department SRO Tim Lampert, 57, of Jasper, officially filed his
candidacy for Dubois County Sheriff on the Republican ticket in the 2026 election.
A lifelong resident of Dubois County, Lampert is the son of Dennis and the late Linda
(Recker) Lampert of Jasper. He is married to Jennifer (Schwenk) of Ireland and has three
children, Logan, Caleb, and Lexi. With 35 years of dedicated service in the Dubois
County Sheriff’s Department, Lampert has held a variety of roles, gaining extensive
experience in law enforcement and community safety.
Lampert began his career in 1990 as a jail officer before being promoted to road deputy
in 1994. In 2011, he was appointed Chief Deputy, a position he held for eight years,
overseeing critical operations and securing funding for public safety initiatives. He
passed several State Board of Account audits with no issues as well as several other
audits from state and federal agencies. Now entering his 35th year with the department,
he continues to serve the community as a School Resource Officer. His extensive
experience includes leading investigations into burglaries, accidents, and deaths. He is a
certified general instructor and certified firearm’s instructor as well as ALICE (Alert,
Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate) active shooter instructor. He has trained
hundreds of officers locally, at other law enforcement agencies and at the Indiana Law
Enforcement Academy. He is currently a School Resource Officer and is a licensed
teacher through the Indiana Department of Education’s Workplace Specialist Program.
While Lampert was Chief Deputy, he successfully obtained thousands of dollars from
grants to provide equipment and extra manpower hours to assist officers in removing
drunk drivers and drugs from the streets, an effort that increases community safety. “As
Sheriff I will continue to pursue grants to bring state and federal money into our county
to save local taxpayer money and to provide additional equipment for the officers to be
able to do their jobs safely and effectively” Lampert said.
“I intend to put forth the resources necessary to combat crimes and drugs, ensuring the
safety of our community, Lampert stated. Once these individuals are incarcerated and off
the street, he intends to provide programming to help them address their addiction and
mental health needs. “My goal is not just to arrest offenders but to ensure they have the
resources to break free from the cycle of addiction and crime and address their mental
health needs. This includes supporting and educating their families, children, and loved
ones who are often caught in the cycle,” Lampert stated. “A safer community starts with
proactive solutions.”
“Our local JRAC (Justice Reinvestment Advisory Committee), Dubois County
Community Foundation, and CARES (Coalition for Adolescent Resilience and
Empowerment Strategies) as well as several other local entities have done an amazing job
of bringing millions of dollars of grant money into our community to address these needs.
I look forward to working with them in the future to help these individuals understand
their addictions and mental health and to take the necessary steps to help themselves.
Local statistics have shown these programs reduce recidivism and make our community
safer.” Lampert said.
A few of Lampert’s past experience and duties include: supervising sheriff’s department
staff, assisting officers on day to day calls, maintaining training records for the
department, submitting reports for bias crimes, entering and maintaining warrants
through the National Crime Information Center and the Indiana Data and
Communications System (and validating all entries into the system) providing active
shooter training to schools and county employees, as well as firearm instruction for
several police agencies. He was voted Best Public Safety Official for 3 years in a row in
the Best of Dubois County.
Lampert’s leadership experience extends beyond law enforcement. He has been actively
involved in several community organizations. He has been a member of and past team
leader of the multi-agency emergency response team, past law enforcement representative
on the Dubois County Substance Abuse Council, and past 911 Advisory Board member.
He has been a member of the Local Emergency Planning Committee, Critical Incident
Stress Debriefing team, the National Archery in School Program, NRA, FOP, Dubois
County Sportsman’s Club, Jasper Outdoor Recreation, Moose, and is a current member of
St. Isidore Parish, Celestine just to name a few.
“With the ever-changing situations and danger faced by emergency professionals, I
believe that the officers and citizens of Dubois County deserve a strong, experienced
leader that has integrity and holds their best interests in mind. Dubois County is a great
place to live and raise a family, and I will work to keep it that way.”
“With my extensive experience, leadership skills, integrity and dedication to this
community, I am prepared to serve as the next Dubois County Sheriff,” Lampert said.
