Three-Vehicle Crash on I-165 in Daviess County Sends SUV Rolling Over
At 3:49 PM on Thursday, October 8, Owensboro - Daviess County Central Dispatch received a report of a three vehicle accident with injuries occurring in the 6500 block of Interstate 165, near the Masonville - Habit Road overpass.
Upon arrival, Daviess County Fire Department, Daviess County Sheriffs Office patrol units and Masonville Fire Department located a three vehicle crash in the southbound lanes. Initial investigation indicates that a southbound Toyota Tacoma had slowed down in order to make an unauthorized U-turn in the median near the overpass when a passenger car behind it slowed down and switched lanes to avoid a collision.
At that time, a southbound Buick SUV struck the passenger car from the rear causing the passenger car to hit the truck. The SUV flipped as a result of the impact and rolled over multiple times before coming to rest upside down.
All three occupants involved in the crash were checked by Firefighters and AMR ambulance personnel and refused medical attention other than treatment for cuts, scrapes and bruises. Emergency crews were able to get one southbound lane open to traffic after approximately 45 minutes.
