Tell City Police Use $45,000 Grant to Fight Community's Meth Problem

WFIE-TV IN EVANSVILLE CONTRIBUTED TO THIS REPORT

TELL CITY -- The Tell City Police Department is using a $45,000 to battle the meth problem in that community.

WFIE-TV reports the money is going to the Drug Task Force Unit.   The unit has an employee whose main job is to go through tips and leads from the community to get drugs like meth off of the streets.

“We understand that methamphetamine and other drugs greatly impact businesses, the safety of our citizens, and things like that," Chief of Polic Derick Lawalin tells 14 News. "We certainly want our citizens to know that we are maximizing our efforts.”

The Tell City Police Department has also received donations to allow them to purchase another K-9 specifically for the Drug Task Force.
