Tammy Guth Earns Republican Spot in November General Election for Recorder
In Tuesday's Primary Election, Tammy Guth emerged as the winner in the contested race for
Dubois County Recorder.
Candidates Sheila Asbell and Tammy Guth, both running on the Republican tickets, were vying
for the County Recorder position. No Democratic Recorder candidates ran in the May 5
election. According to the publicly available Election Summary Report obtained by WITZ, 6,275
voters cast their ballot for Recorder. Of those, Guth won 59.25% of overall votes. With her
victory, Guth secured her position as the Republican candidate in November’s general election.
Guth is an active member of the community, volunteering at the Tri-County YMCA and serving
as assistant leader for the Huntingburg Girl Scouts. She is also an auxiliary member at the
Huntingburg VFW Post 2366, supporting local veterans.
The Huntingburg resident is a graduate of Southridge High School and earned her degree in
Paralegal Studies from Vincennes University. From there, she earned her certificate from
NACO’s High Performance Leadership Academy and earned her first certificate of Excellence
with the Association of Indiana Counties.
The County Recorder maintains permanent public records, with a primary focus on property
ownership and land transactions. This includes liens, mortgages, deeds, plats, surveys, and
other legal documents, ensuring a secure chain of title. In Dubois County, the Recorder’s Office
also maintains military discharge records to facilitate verification of veterans’ benefits. The
Recorder verifies that documents meet legal requirements, indexes them for retrieval, and
preserves them permanently for public access.
As part of her platform, Guth underlined the importance of property fraud protection. She
helped to implement the Property Fraud Alert system for Dubois County. In her public
comments, Guth emphasized, “It matters who your county recorder is because property fraud
is real, and it can happen! For over seven years I have worked in this office, and I know the
recording process, the policies, and where the vulnerabilities exist. I’ve played a key role in
introducing this program to protect Dubois County property owners from fraud, recognizing
that for many, their property is their biggest financial investment. I remain committed to help
every property owner protect their land.”
